Self-Contained Hydraulic Control Systems for Fail-Safe ESD Applications
The Omni Model EX and EXE are self-contained hydraulic control systems used to provide fail-safe valve shutdown capability in emergency conditions. The Model EX is a zero-emission system — its hydraulic fluid is recycled in a sealed loop and continually re-used, releasing no emissions to the atmosphere and providing excellent environmental protection.
Both systems provide fail-safe ESD capability with self-contained hydraulic operation. The EX offers zero-emission performance. Choose manual-only or electric with manual backup.
Self-Contained Hydraulic Control System
The EX is a self-contained hydraulic control system designed to control hydraulically-actuated surface safety valves. The system energizes the actuator using its own hydraulic fluid reservoir — no need for access to a hydraulic power source at the well site. Ideally suited for remote locations and off-grid installations.
Electric Self-Contained Hydraulic Control System
The EXE is a self-contained hydraulic control system that utilizes electric power to control hydraulically-actuated surface safety valves. Normally energized by an electric motor-driven pump, with a manual pump that can be used in case power is lost. Can be operated remotely via logic controller or SCADA system.
Both systems share these integrated components for reliable, fail-safe operation.
Nitrogen pre-charged to compensate for fluid expansion and contraction during temperature cycles. Maintains constant pressure and eliminates stem creep and valve washout. Pre-charge pressure stenciled on nameplate.
Normally open solenoid (12 or 24 VDC, 1.8W) facilitates emergency shutdown. Relieves actuator pressure if control signal is lost — via SCADA, ESD station, or integrated features. UL/CSA CL1 DIV 1 rated, ½" NPT conduit.
Integrated QEV acts as a shuttle valve giving the entire system a direct bleed line back to the reservoir. Achieves the quickest possible safety valve closing time regardless of pilot configurations.
Line pressure gauges on the pressure line from control system to actuator. Oriented for visual inspection from a distance — no need to open the cover or be in close proximity.
Both systems use the same manual pump. Primary pressure source on the EX; backup on the EXE for situations when power is insufficient or unavailable.
Both systems ship with a fill kit containing control fluid, installation and startup instructions, a funnel, and rags for field commissioning.
The system consists of a reverse-acting gate valve with Model HX hydraulic actuator and EX or EXE control system.
Both systems can incorporate pressure sensors plumbed into the flow line to sense pressure and initiate ESD if flow line pressure drops below or rises above set pressures.
